It stimulates digestion and circulation, while supporting the immune system. It is also a fantastic air freshener. Cinnamon essential oil is extremely strong and should be used with caution. The oldest known uses of cinnamon oil include relieving toothache and removing bad breath. Cinnamon oil is used in pharmaceutical products and is used as flavouring in mouthwashes and toothpastes.

EFFECTS

Cinnamon oil has extremely high antioxidant effects and antiseptic properties similar to clove oil.

SAFETY

Cinnamon is a very "hot" essential oil which can cause skin sensitization if applied directly to the skin. In case of topical application, it must be extensively diluted to less than 0.1%. Before use, test a very small amount of your preparation first. This essential oil may also be irritating to the nasal passages, so avoid direct inhalation from the bottle. Always perform a patch test before use to ensure there is no allergic reaction or sensitivity.

Cinnamon bark oil is relatively safe when used in small dosages and blended with mild carrier oils. If you are pregnant or under the care of a doctor, consult your doctor before use. Avoid using on children under 6.
